New Earth Book CoverWell, I finished my reading and my review a day early even though I struggled all week to get through chapter 2 of A New Earth. It was not because Tolle had tried to render the Christian faith useless again, but his views on the inner and outer being and the ego just struck me as…well…junk. Tolle’s views on the world have foundation, but he pushes them too far in trying to maintain his inner light theories. But I am getting ahead of myself. Hit the jump and check it out for yourself. As anyone who pokes around the site knows, I do love the Da Vinci Code as a fictional piece; excellent thriller. I had a hard time putting it down even though I did not agree with it on a religious level. And as a side tangent, I am REALLY looking forward to the prequel of Angels & Demons that is coming out May 19, 2009! Angels & Demons was a better book than the Da Vinci in Becky and my opinions. But that is not what we are here to talk about is it!

Becky was reading another book that really sounded like Da Vinci Code and involved a hidden society, the bloodline of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene, of course all based loosely on what we are told is the Gospels of Mary. So the question is: What exactly is the Gospel of Mary? (more…)

Dr. Oz

While I was driving to work today, I pondered the subject of the day; what would I write about? Then all of the sudden on the radio I hear the voice of none other than Oprah Winfrey inviting me to watch her show today. The subject of the day is going to be one of her new age friends, Dr. Oz(Don’t even get me started on that name Mr. Wizard!!!), mass hypnotizing the audience and getting them to “transcend” into their past lives.             So we begin our look into Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth. What I am going to do is take each chapter, read through it and try to be as open minded as I can; trying to get the purpose that Tolle is trying to communicate. Then I will go back through and list the things that are not Biblically sound. I hope this journey will be informative for both you and me. (more…)

In the video following the jump you will see a clip posted on GodTube that clearly shows that Oprah does not believe that Jesus is the only way to reach Heaven which is clearly what John 14:6 teaches us. So can she actually call herself a Christian?

I think this is where many people fail and jsut take parts of the Bible and leave what they do not want to use or hear. This is not Christian beliefs. This is their own made up version and it does not hold water.

The transcript is from me typing as I listened to it, so I am sure it will contain errors. =0)

New Earth Book CoverI have been quite busy as of late, but there is one issue that I feel is dire enough that I have to come back and just call it as I see it. Oprah Winfrey has flipped her lid!

I am not an Oprah fan. I think, or should I say thought, that she had a good heart, called herself a Christian, and actually tried to help people when she could. So I was rather unaware of her crusade to bring the human race to a higher state of consciousness. A co-worker brought this to my attention.

christmas-window.jpg

As I climbed up on the roof this weekend to take down the Christmas lights, I sat up there for a minute and looked around my suburban neighborhood. My across the street neighbor, Jason, was taking down his light up deer and lights as well. There were remnants of lights and decorations all over the adjacent streets. I thought about all the light up deer, inflatable Mickey Mouse Santas, the presents, the wood cut outs of 101 Dalmatians, and of course all the lights. That got me thinking about the commercial politically correct “holidays” and plain old Christian Christmas.

A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.

How to Build a Church

Step 1: When you start to build a church, you must first rent a crane and put the steeple in place, even if it is just hanging in midair.

Step 2: Once that is done, you can continue to build the church around it.

I can see all the construction guys out there just cringing at those terribly wrong instructions. There is no way to build a successful and sturdy church if you put the last piece in first and then try to build around it. To build a solid structure you have to start at the bottom, not the top. You have to pour the concrete and create a solid foundation to build on. If you don’t it will crumble like a house of cards.

Many non-Christians in the world today view Christians as either a “holier than thou” type people or hypocritical liars; and, unfortunately, that can be true in some cases. But for the most part, Christians are simply trying to follow what the Bible tells us to do. The main two goals of a Christian life are 1) Live as sin free as possible, and 2) Spread the word about God and Jesus Christ. And even I, in typing this very post on this very blog, am trying to spread the word.

The problem that I think most non-Christians have is that they feel that we think that we have this free ticket that now that we say with follow Jesus and go to Church on Sundays that we are automatically best buds with JC himself. While that is true in some sense…it is very untrue in others. When I was on the other side of the fence, I used to feel the same way. People would tell me that it is hard to be a Christian and I had to contain the laughter. How can it be hard to believe something when most of America believes the same way? I would almost dare them to try to stand alone like I did in my beliefs. But we were talking about two different things really. And that is where it gets interesting.
